Accessibility statement

Stories are for everyone. We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We believe the website currently meets this standard, with the exceptions listed below.

What we’ve done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a “Skip to content” link.
  • Pages use headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can navigate them, and every page has a unique title.
  • Text colours meet WCAG AA contrast against their backgrounds.
  • Images have text alternatives; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • The silent background video on the home page has a pause button, stops when it scrolls out of view, and does not load if your device asks to save data. Smooth scrolling is switched off if you have asked your device to reduce motion.
  • Content reflows to a single column on small screens and supports zooming to 400% without losing information.
  • Passages in French are marked up so screen readers pronounce them correctly, with an English translation where it matters.
  • Links that open another website in a new tab say so to screen reader users.

Known limitations

  • Films hosted on YouTube. Our full films play in YouTube’s player. Captions, audio description and player controls are provided by YouTube and may not be available for every film. If you need a transcript or description of a film, please ask.
  • Film preview. The silent preview on the home page is decorative; the same story is described in text on the film’s page.
  • Social media. Content we link to on Instagram and YouTube is outside our control.

How we test

We check the website with automated accessibility testing, keyboard-only use, browser zoom and reduced-motion settings at desktop and mobile sizes. This statement was prepared on 26 September 2026 and will be reviewed as the website changes.
